**Description:**

Students will calculate quarterback passer ratings to determine which quarterback is better using algebraic substituting into equations. Students will utilize the concepts of substitution, solving expressions and equations, and using variables to accomplish this.

Are there any explanations in where the numbers (constants) in the formula come from, or do you just accept the formula? –nick

Great question. I just accept the formula and my students always do as well. However, discussing this could lead to some great discussion on how formulas are created – depending on the age group you are dealing with this could be very interesting.
