Temperature Exploration

7.NS.1,3 The students will compare extreme temperatures in the U.S. and then discovering other extreme temperatures in the world to compare further.

Summer Hangin’

Students will make a summer schedule with set amounts of days between each activities and find out how often they will meet up with friends who do the same activity. Students are then given an amount of 2 or more supplies and instructed to determine the greatest amount of equal “packs” they could make.

Candy Split

Students will use candy to explore what happens when they divide a fraction into even smaller amounts and take a fraction of a fraction.

What Drives You?

Students will determine how many miles their future vehicle will accrue and analyze the cost of certain cars based on initial cost and gas mileage.

7.SP.5 Students will predict the likelihood of chance events happening.

Overlapping Interests

7.SP.3 The students will compare two sets of data both visually and statistically to gain insights.

7.EE.1,2 The students will be creating a business that sells a product they create and design. They will then use math to price and predict sales of their products.

Engineering With Triangles

7.G.2 Students will attempt to construct triangles and then choose which of those triangles would be useful in engineering solutions to real world problems.

Skateboarding Angles

7.G.5 Students will look at images of skateboarders performing tricks and attempt to find the measure of angles that relate to the trick.
